Inspired by quiet moments in nature—soft skies over still water, gentle breezes moving through open fields—the work invites viewers to slow down, rest their gaze, and feel a sense of calm.

The tactile richness of the upholstery fabric forms the foundation, while embroidery stitches add delicate detail and dimension, much like ripples or drifting clouds. Layered fibers introduce movement and depth, creating subtle shifts in tone and texture that reward close inspection.

I chose these materials for their ability to merge strength with softness—the durability of upholstery fabric contrasts with the refined detail of embroidery, echoing the way serenity can feel both steady and delicate. The abstract composition allows viewers to interpret their own “place of peace,” whether rooted in landscape, memory, or imagination.

Shower of Flowers is composed on richly textured upholstery fabric stretched over two separate frames and augmented with acrylic paint.

The result is an abstracted landscape with an array of blossoms seeming to rain from the sky, creating a magical experience.

Tangled Up In Blue 

A riff on Bob Dylan's song of the same name, this painting expresses the tangle of emotions we experience during life’s transitions: the struggle to deal with feelings of love and loss, the sense of betrayal when all that we know and rely upon suddenly changes. Solid forms become ethereal and certainty vanishes, although glimpses of beauty remain. Will we regain a sense of self or emerge forever changed?

Blue, a predominant color in my work, wonderfully expresses the range of feeling and emotion.

My-Wild-Ride is an expressive, abstract work that captures the intensity and unpredictability of life’s journey.
