Roses by the Sea depicts the timeless beauty of roses meeting the ever-changing rhythm of the ocean. Inspired by the serene yet powerful feeling of walking along a windswept shore with blossoms in full bloom seen against the expanse of the sea.

The surface combines hand-selected fabrics with paint, creating a tactile richness that invites both visual and physical engagement. The texture offers a sensory experience beyond the purely visual.

I chose this combination of materials to capture the interplay between fragility and resilience. The floral forms are abstracted enough to spark the viewer’s own memories or imaginings, yet grounded in color and shape that feel familiar and comforting. Viewers may sense a quiet joy, perhaps a reminder of a cherished place.

Shower of Flowers is composed on richly textured upholstery fabric stretched over two separate frames and augmented with acrylic paint.

The result is an abstracted landscape with an array of blossoms seeming to rain from the sky, creating a magical experience.
